1、What Is DDR?

It can be said that each iteration of DDR has improved performance compared to its predecessor, from the 2.7-3.2GB/s transfer rate of DDR1, to the 21GB/s of DDR4, to the 6.4Gbps of DDR5, significantly increasing the data processing speed. 2、What Is DDR5?
DDR5 is the fifth iteration of DDR, with twice the bandwidth and capacity of DDR4. Applications can do more things at the same time and generally have more efficient computing. Now that DDR5 has been on the market for three years, it is now cheaper and more widely used.

3、The Difference Between DDR4 vs DDR5
(1) Memory Bandwidth
One of the main differences between DDR4 and DDR5 RAM is speed. The JEDEC specification for DDR4 runs at an effective speed of up to 3200MHz, higher than the initial 2133MHz at launch, while the default speed of DDR5 RAM is 4800MHz, with an effective operating speed of up to 6400Mhz.

DDR4 can support DIMMs with a capacity of up to 64GB. DDR5 can support 8 times the capacity of DDR4 - up to 512GB per DIMM, allowing a single user to handle larger, more memory-intensive projects.
However, most processors cannot support this yet. The best ones are high-end motherboards such as the Gigabyte Aorus Z790 Extreme X, which support up to 192GB of total memory and 48GB of independent memory modules.

4、Is DDR5 really that much better than DDR4?
